We want the services, events and programmes to be accessible by all. We’re working hard to remove as many barriers as we can. Here are some things that are in place already to help you when you visit:

Getting to Jesmond Parish Church and parking

  • We are right next to Jesmond metro station.
  • At our Sunday Services we also have some parking spaces that are labelled for the use of people with impaired mobility and/or who are Blue badge Holders. These are right outside the Main Hall, on Eskdale Terrace.

Impaired Mobility

  • Access to the main entrance to church is step-free.
  • We also have a disabled-access toilet and a wheelchair available.
  • Some of our meetings (not the Sunday services) happen in upstairs rooms. Please contact us if that would stop you coming and we’ll make adjustments so that you can come.
  • Our usual habit in services is to stand for songs and one or two other items; if you find standing difficult for any reason please feel free to remain seated.
  • There are red chairs in church which can be more comfortable than the pews during services.

Hearing Impairment

  • Our PA (public address) system in church is of a very high professional standard.
  • We also have an installed loop system (just switch your hearing aids to ‘T’ to link into it). There is a portable Roger transmitter/receiver system available for use in smaller group settings.

Sight Impairment

  • We have large screen TVs and projector screens fitted around church.
  • Large-print service sheets are also available at all of our services.

Sensory overload

  • We recognise that some people find the noise of a church service with a large crowd, live music etc overwhelming.
  • There are parts of the church that are less crowded and quieter (especially up in the galleries). Feel free to try using those seats. Our stewards can help you locate them.

Children’s and Youth groups

  • If your child has additional needs we would love them to come to our groups. We’ll do our best to provide for them within the resources we have available.
  • It’s helpful if you can contact one of our team in advance to talk about what would be most helpful to your child.

Watch Sunday Services from home

We would love you to join us in person. If for any reason you are unable to be with us in person our services are livestreamed and can be found on www.clayton.tv or Clayton TV YouTube channel.

Anything else?

If there’s anything that we need to do to make it easier for you to access what we do at JPC please ask.

We produced a booklet called 'Accessiblity in the Church' recently and hope it will help the church family to think about the topic biblically and carefully. You can download the booklet here.
